Angell Town, Holles House, Warwick House and Angell Crescent - London

Angell Town is a large multi-storey social housing estate completed in the 1970s. From 1998 the estate has been partly refurbished and partly rebuilt in a series of separate packages designed by different architects. This was the first refurbishment package. It comprises the renovation and remodelling of one block. Part of a second block is to be similarly refurbished with the remainder scheduled for redevelopment – see Angell Town Warwick House and Angell Crescent case studies. The scheme demonstrates the potential for recycling materials on work to existing buildings. The London Borough of Lambeth Policies for Sustainable Housing have provided a policy basis for green construction and its translation into practice in estate refurbishment and rebuilding.
